Crash Caused by Illegal Alien
Who Had Been Deported 15 Times
It turns out that a drunk driver who last Saturday crashed into a family returning from a trip to Disneyland was yet another “bad hombre” — one who had reportedly already been deported 15 times before.
Constantino Banda-Acosta was the suspect’s name, and because of his most recent transgression — which allegedly involved running a stop sign near San Diego and slamming into the family’s car, after which he reportedly fled the scene — the 6-year-old son of Benjamin Lake and his wife, Ingrid, was lying in a hospital bed with traumatic brain injuries, as reported by local station KGUN.
As of Thursday, their son, Lennox, had already undergone two surgeries, and his doctors were “cautiously optimistic” that he might fully recover, according to Fox News.
“He’s a fighter,” Lake told Fox. “Really — my strength comes from Lennox and seeing him fight so hard. I want to do everything possible for him.”
And so he and and his wife were remaining by their boy’s side 24 hours a day and had also set up a GoFundMe
page to cover his medical bills and expenses.
As for Banda-Acosta, he has since been arrested and pleaded not guilty “to three felony charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol level of more than 0.08 percent and hit and run, as well as a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license,” as noted by the Los Angeles Times.
Perhaps this time he might be locked up for good. He had already been incarcerated at least twice in the past on domestic violence charges. And according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, he had been deported at least 15 times since 2002.
In a statement published this week, ICE public affairs officer Lauren Mack reportedly revealed that yet another detainer has been lodged against Banda-Acosta with the goal of “seeking to take him into custody if and when he is released by local authorities to pursue additional immigration enforcement action and/or criminal prosecution.”
But what’s the point? Unless he’s tossed into prison on a permanent basis (or for at least 25 to 50 years) or the borders are thoroughly secured (the wall has yet to be built), this “bad hombre” will just continue acting like a hooligan.

Suddenly, there was a car where no car should be: plowing through the sidewalk crowds that had swelled in Times Square on a spectacular sun-filled day.
And it was moving fast.
By the time it rammed into a bollard, an 18-year-old woman was dead, 22 other people were injured and the heart of Manhattan had been turned into a scene of panic and carnage. The car, a maroon Honda Accord, had traveled along the sidewalk for more than three blocks.
“They were screaming, yelling, running,” said Sharief White, a vendor who was selling T-shirts and hats at Seventh Avenue and 44th Street and saw the Honda speed into the crowd. “It was running over everybody that was in front of the car.”
Unfolding in one of the city’s most crowded and high-profile areas, the episode instantly raised the specter of terrorism. An attempted car-bomb attack in Times Square in 2010 remains a potent memory for many, and recent terrorist attacks overseas have shown the damage that vehicles can do when used as weapons.
